General Demolition undertook the complete CAT A strip out of the building at 7 Newgate Street, London, which consisted of six upper floors, ground and basement – approximately 100,000sq. ft of office space.
The strip out of the building from top down included all plant and equipment mounted externally on the roof, leaving the building as a weathertight shell.
The soft strip out of the basement to the sixth floor CAT A office spaces included WCs and washrooms, BOH staircases and lifts, along with the ground floor reception.
General Demolition provided and maintained incidental shoring, strutting, needling and other suppots in order to preserve stability of existing structions on the site or adjoining.
The former tenant AXA insurance left behind all furniture, fixtures and fittings upon their departure. In line with General Demolition’s re-use initiatives, we arranged for our specialist partners to contact local charities and schools and were able to place all suitable items with a new home.
In keeping with General Demolition’s safe working policies, the project was completed on time with no reported incidents and an overall recyclability rate of 95%.
