73 Brook Street

General Demolition delivered the full demolition as the principal contractor on the commercial project at 73 Brook Street.

Project Overview

Clivedale Ventures appointed General Demolition as Principal Contractor to complete the full demolition of a six-storey office block in the prestigious area of Mayfair, London.

The demolition at 73 Brook Street enabled the construction of the new headquarters. General Demolition delivered the enabling works through a seven-month programme. The programme included the full demolition of the 1970’s building as well as the necessary temporary works needed for the demolition to take place. We used scaffolds clad with Monoflex to secure and enclose the external elevations of the building.

Neighbourhood liaison

The neighbouring buildings encompassed a diverse range. For instance, a Grade I listed building, the private Savile Club, a commercial office, and private residences to the rear. Additionally, a London Underground tunnel was only 30 metres below the surface of the site itself. It was clear from the outset that great care needed to be taken at every step of the demolition.

To guarantee the least amount of disruption, General Demolition ensured the work was delivered in a safe and considerate manner. Keeping the communication open was a critical aspect of the project management. For example, we made special arrangements with the neighbouring Savile Club to keep noise to a minimum during the club’s busy lunchtime period of 12 noon until 2 pm.

Following General Demolition’s safe working policies, we completed on time and with zero reportable incidents. We ensured neighbouring parties were all well informed and we received no complaints during the project.
