General Demolition delivered a successful strip out on this waterside development, enabling the transformation of a six-storey office block into 108 residential flats.
As main contractors on the project, General Demolition provided strip out services enabling the conversion of a six-storey office building into residential apartments. The site sits in the Cross-harbour area of the London Docklands on the Isle of Dogs in East London.
Scope of works – strip out
The strip out work consisted of the soft strip of all levels, including raised floors, partitions and ceilings. We also identified and removed all asbestos-containing materials safely and efficiently.
This programme required the removal of plant room structure and associated plant contained within. In addition, the programme included the deconstruction of level 6 down to level 5. Also, we removed the external cladding and windows and MEP services.
Further removal included all internal lift systems and associated equipment, including the full removal of service lift and structure, external hoists and window cleaning equipment. Additionally, to facilitate the removal of all arisings, General Demolition designed and provided an external debris hoist and chute with full acoustic screening.
General Demolition believe that maintaining strong communication with neighbouring properties and businesses is of paramount importance to any project. We maintained regular neighbourhood liaison throughout the project. This included free car-wash services for the neighbouring residents.
As a result of using our considered waste management process, we scored a 95% recyclability rate on this project.
