General Demolition was proud to sponsor and take part in the BPF Futures x RICS Matrics Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Black History Month Event, held on 30 October 2025 at BPF Futures.
The event marked an important milestone as the first multi-disciplinary collaboration of its kind, bringing together leading voices from across the built environment to celebrate Black History Month and champion greater diversity, equity and inclusion within the sector.
Organised in collaboration with Black Women in Real Estate (BWRE), ICE Next Gen, and The Land Collective, and endorsed by We Rise In, the evening created an important platform for discussion, reflection and connection across disciplines. Attendees heard from an inspiring panel including Joelle Allotey, Partner at Cushman & Wakefield, Muyiwa Oki, Former President of RIBA, and Sunny-Thomas Obasuyi of HartDixon and the RICS Governing Council, who shared valuable perspectives on representation, leadership and inclusive practice across the built environment.
Championing inclusion across our industry
Representing General Demolition, Fred Bulgin addressed the audience, speaking about the company’s role as proud sponsors of the event and the importance of fostering inclusion across the industry. In his remarks, he emphasised: “Demolition isn’t just about concrete and steel, it’s about people – the planners, surveyors, engineers, and apprentices who make every project possible. Events like this remind us how important it is to celebrate those contributions, and to make sure our industry stays open, inclusive, and full of opportunity for everyone.”
General Demolition extends a special thanks to Machai Tolosi of Christopher Smith Associates for their instrumental role in coordinating and facilitating the event, helping to bring this successful collaboration together.
As a business operating across London and the South East for over forty years, General Demolition remains deeply committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, representation and opportunity. Sponsoring this event reflects the company’s ongoing belief that while what we build matters, who we build it with matters even more.
