General Demolition shortlisted for Considerate Constructors’ Climate Champion Award 2025

General Demolition has been named one of ten finalists for the Considerate Constructors’ Climate Champion Award 2025, to be announced at the Grand Gala Awards at the Natural History Museum on 21 November 2025.

This prestigious category recognises organisations leading the way in environmental responsibility and sustainable innovation – values that underpin every General Demolition project.

We are committed to showing how demolition can be an opportunity for environmental progress. Some examples include how at Black Swan in Northampton, we achieved zero waste to landfill and diverted 631 tonnes of CO₂ emissions by prioritising material reuse and digital asset tracking. Meanwhile, at 21 Glasshouse Street in Soho, we pioneered glass recycling with Saint-Gobain, recovering 36 tonnes of toughened and laminated glass and conserving raw materials. In addition, at 110 The Queens Walk (former City Hall), we repurposed or donated more than 300 tonnes of materials, from carpet tiles and raised access flooring to commercial kitchen equipment for food banks.

These projects, along with major initiatives at Belgrove House, 40 Argyll Street, and Queensway Croydon, demonstrate our commitment to the circular economy: turning materials traditionally treated as waste into valuable resources and delivering measurable carbon savings alongside social benefits.

Sustainability is embedded in our everyday operations. Our teams are trained in precision dismantling, reuse logistics and community engagement, working with partners such as St Catherine’s Hospice, local food banks and specialist reuse organisations. This approach combines forty years of technical expertise with forward-thinking solutions that accelerate the change to sustainable demolition.

“The shortlist celebrates exceptional companies and individuals who have demonstrated remarkable leadership, innovation, and contributions to the construction industry. These nominees represent the very best in their field and have set new benchmarks for excellence,” notes the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Being shortlisted for the Climate Champion Award reflects the dedication of our entire team, our partners and our clients. Together, we’re proving that technical expertise, careful planning and collaboration can turn complex demolition challenges into real environmental impact.

We look forward to joining our peers at the Considerate Constructors Grand Gala Awards 2025 at the Natural History Museum on 21 November, celebrating innovation and leadership in sustainable construction.
