General Demolition talks digital innovation and material reuse on Footprint+ podcast

We’re excited to announce that General Demolition has been featured on a leading industry podcast, recorded live at Footprint+.

General Demolition’s Managing Director, George Stainton, recently joined a panel of experts to discuss how digitisation is transforming the way materials are recovered and reused across the built environment.

The episode captures the session “Digitisation across the Circular Economy: Enabling the Supply Chain to Reuse Materials”, held at the most recent Footprint+ event. The discussion explored how digital tools and early-stage collaboration are enabling smarter material recovery and higher reuse rates, a topic at the heart of what we do at General Demolition.

Alongside George were Morgan Lewis (Material Index), Emily Samoluk (British Land) and Roseanna Hart (Cast Group), each sharing their expertise on sustainable practices and technology-driven innovation.

At General Demolition, we’re pioneering precise deconstruction and material tracking through platforms such as Material Index, helping clients meet their reuse targets and make informed, data-driven decisions. As George highlights during the podcast: “There are certain words and phrases often associated with demolition – ‘rip it out, blow it up, or throw it in a hole.’ For us, there’s a huge education piece needed to build the transparency that will enable circularity and sustainability at scale, and on a consistent basis.”

We’re proud to be part of a movement proving that responsible demolition is about creating sustainable beginnings, not just endings, and showing how digital innovation support in making it a reality across our industry.
