General Demolition will be taking part in this year’s Footprint+ conference, the UK’s leading property event for a zero-carbon future.
Held at Old Billingsgate, London on 14-15 May 2025, the event will bring together key players in construction, property, and sustainability.
Speaking on stage, General Demolition’s Director, George Stainton, will join a panel of experts to discuss “Digitisation across the Circular Economy: Enabling the Supply Chain to Reuse Materials.” The session takes place on 14 May at 2:45 PM on the Interiors Focus Stage and will explore how digital tools and early-stage collaboration are enabling smarter material recovery and higher reuse rates across the built environment.
Joining George on the panel will be Morgan Lewis (Material Index), Emily Samoluk (British Land), and Roseanna Hart (Cast Group). Together, the experts will outline practical strategies for retaining, reusing, and redistributing materials within and between construction projects, all of which are key actions for delivering a truly circular economy.
“Sustainability has always been a core focus for General Demolition, but partnering with companies like Material Index has strengthened traceability across projects, allowing us to identify, catalogue, and redeploy materials at scale,” says George. “By identifying valuable components early and making them visible to future users, we’ve transformed any potential waste into resources, helping to give it a valuable second life.
“Footprint+ provides a timely platform to highlight how digital tools are delivering results on live sites and to highlight how the broader construction industry can adopt similar strategies to drive circularity forward,” George continues.General Demolition will be taking part in this year’s Footprint+ conference, the UK’s leading property event for a zero-carbon future. Sustainability as standard, even at our stand
We believe that demolition, when done with care and attention to detail, can be a powerful driver of sustainability. With over 40 years of technical expertise in precise deconstruction, strip out and complex structural alterations, we are committed to advancing the shift toward a more circular construction industry and one way we contribute is through smart material recovery. Our team understands how to plan for reuse from the outset, and we look forward to sharing our expertise with the wider sector.
Visitors to the General Demolition stand will be able to witness circularity in action, as even the furniture on display, including tables, stools, and chairs, has been repurposed from one of our own demolition sites. To bring reuse to life in an interactive way, the stand also features Topple Blox, a hands-on game that brings to life the strategic planning and technical precision required in real-world deconstruction.
Visit our stand at Footprint+ to see sustainable demolition in practice and find out more from our team about how sustainability comes as standard in all our projects. You can also join George Stainton on 14 May at the Interiors Focus stage to learn how digitisation and collaboration are driving real-world circularity.
