At General Demolition, we believe in providing for our team in whatever way we can, and however they may need our help. In 2021, we became Supporters of mental health charity Mates in Mind.
Mates in Mind
Mates in Mind are a leading UK charity that work tirelessly to raise awareness and address the stigma of poor mental health across construction and manufacturing industries. Sadly, the statistics show that the suicide rates in the construction industry are over three times the national average, and that stress, depression and anxiety are some of the biggest causes of all work-related ill health cases.
Becoming a supporter
Becoming a supporter of Mates in Mind has enabled General Demolition to have access to training and support and resources necessary to help us design and implement a new workplace mental health programme.
Since becoming a supporter, the team have fundraised through the “Every Step Counts” challenge where they were encouraged to collectively walk as many miles as they could over a two-week period. The team managed to walk an astonishing 980 collective miles, and they all reported that being motivated to go outside for a walk had so many positive impacts on their wellbeing.
We are looking forward to designing our new mental health policy and ensuring that our team have everything they need to thrive in the workplace.
